Shailene Woodley is one of the many talented actresses nominated for an Emmy in the best supporting actress in a limited series for her role on Big Little Lies. But in a new interview with the New York Times, the actress entertained a career switch into politics.

In the run-up to the 2016 presidential election, Woodley was a vocal fan of Senator Bernie Sanders, and she's remained politically outspoken on issues like Native American rights and climate change:

And when asked by the interviewer if she'd ever consider running for political office, Woodley gave an answer that... wasn't a no:

"There was a point last year when I was working for Bernie Sanders where I thought, 'Huh, maybe I’ll run for Congress in a couple years.' And you know what? I’m not going to rule it out. Who knows? Life is big, and I’m young."

She also addressed previous interviews she'd given where she didn't ID as a feminist, though she insisted that she believed in gender equality. Times have changed since then, and now her response to "the feminist question" is:

"I would today consider myself a feminist. If females start working through the false narrative of jealousy and insecurity fed through a patriarchal society, then not only will we have more women feeling confident in themselves and supportive of one another, but we will start introducing a type of matriarchy, which is what this world needs. We need more softness and more silence and more pause through the chaos."

Will this mean that in a few years, Woodley will run on a political platform of confident matriarchy? Maybe not, but she wouldn't be the first figure from the entertainment world to later make it big in politics.
