Every year, POTUS pardons a turkey ahead of Thanksgiving. This year is no different: Either Drumstick or Wishbone, both of whom were flown in from Minnesota, per a White House announcement, will be pardoned by President Trump tomorrow in the Rose Garden. Tonight, though, they'll live like turkey kings: they are staying at the Willard Continental in D.C., The Hill reports. Rooms at the hotel go anywhere from $200 to $3,500 a night.
It's not uncommon for the turkeys to stay at expensive places before they are privately shuttled to the White House and broadcast around the world. TIME reports that in the past they've stayed at the W, another not inexpensive D.C. hotel.
The Willard, specifically, has hosted a few pairs of Turkeys 1 and 2. Last year, they hosted "special guests" Tater and Tot, and Bustle reports, 2014's Mac and Cheese stayed there too.
Regardless, the National Turkey Federation will pay for their luxurious room, which appears to have a queen-size bed for each turkey. Drumstick and Wishbone will undoubtedly sleep well tonight, as the president loves to exercise a good pardon.
