Tonight, Bong Joon Ho took home the coveted Best Director award for Parasite at the 2020 Oscars, and in this speech, referenced an American pop culture moment no one would have anticipated. The South Korean director had a totally unexpected Mean Girls moment while on stage.

Basically, when he went up to accept his award, he spoke about all of his fellow nominees in the directing category: Todd Phillips, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, and Sam Mendes. He spoke about all of them individually, giving them really sweet compliments via his translator. He gushed about all of them, and it was damn adorable.

And then, after he finished speaking about each one, he said, “I wish I could take a Texas chainsaw and cut this statue into five pieces and share it with all of you.” And, like...did anyone have serious flashbacks to this iconic moment?
