Selena Gomez had to get something off her chest today.

The "Kill 'Em With Kindness" singer took to Instagram to share her feelings about her life and career as it stands currently, and it seems she's a little troubled and conflicted at the moment. Gomez wrote out an honest, open message on the iPhone Notes app, which she then screen-grabbed and posted on her account.

The full text reads:

"Tonight I felt extremely unauthentic, unconnected to both myself and my music. I've never really felt like my materials, wardrobe or a video could define me. I act on a moment and fear something that hasn't happened. I'm stagnant, I stay still and don't just sit with myself first and ask 'is this where I am, whole heartedly?' I've always told the truth. I'm always true to my word, I've shown who I am but I need to rethink some areas of my life creatively and personally. had to get that out."

This comes on the heels of her Revival Tour concert in Indonesia on Friday night, which marked Gomez's first performance in the country. She assured her loyal fans they were not the issue in her caption, writing, "Not being negative about anything I've done. I'm grateful for every single moment I get here - Indonesia you were LOUD and clearly inspiring. Love you so much."

The message, while clearly heartfelt, is also a bit cryptic. What happened last night to make her feel this way? And beyond that, to feel compelled to express it publicly?

It's been a tumultuous summer for Selena Gomez and the people she's close with. In June, Gomez's close friend Christina Grimmie was fatally shot after a performance in Orlando. Then just last week, her BFF Taylor Swift was outed on Snapchat by Kim Kardashian in the phone call heard 'round the world. When Gomez came to her bestie's defense on Twitter and called for everyone to "use their voice for something that fucking matters," she got slammed by Twitter users who accused her of not speaking up for important issues like #BlackLivesMatter (which Kim Kardashian has done). So perhaps she's feeling extra pressured and stressed lately?

These factors notwithstanding, her Instagram post definitely seems centered on her career and how she feels about her Revival Tour more than anything else. In which case, we just don't get why she wouldn't feel good about that… She references her "materials" (by which we're guessing she means her music), but practically everyone is *obsessed* with her music at the moment—her hit song "Kill 'Em With Kindness" has been on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart for seven weeks now. Then she mentions her Revival Tour "wardrobe," which is absolutely incredible. Her bodysuit game has been SO strong, and the slinky, high-slit Galvan dress she recently added to the mix is basically the best thing ever. Plus, we thought she loved her tour costumes?? Just look at the face she made when she first saw them:

As for the "video" part of the note, we can only guess she's referring to the most recent video she released, for "Kill 'Em With Kindness." But the message here is so positive and powerful, we can't imagine that could be the source of her unsettled feelings.

Or maybe she's just feeling the birthday blues after turning 24 yesterday… #BeenThere.
