These days, you can find hummus in just about any flavor—roasted red pepper, ranch, even everything bagel—but for the most part, the spread has been solidly in the savory category. Until now.

Spotted at the Summer Fancy Food Show, Delighted By features four twists on traditional hummus: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Brownie Batter, Orange Ginger and Snickerdoodle. Yes, they're made with chickpeas, tahini and salt, just like the traditional spread, but that's where the comparisons end. Coconut milk helps give the hummus a smooth, creamy texture, which is sweetened with organic Turbinado sugar, as well as other ingredients to make the mix taste like each flavor (fresh orange zest and ground ginger in the Orange Ginger, and cocoa powder and vanilla extract in the brownie batter variety, for example).

The company's founder, holistic nutritionist Makenzie Marzluff, first came up with the idea as a healthy dessert to bring to a party. When friends raved about how much the spread reminded them of actual cookie dough, it became her go-to dish to bring to any party, eventually deciding to quit her job and make dessert hummus full-time last year.

All four varieties of hummus taste surprisingly close to the actual dessert they mimic, though the texture is a little grittier than the typical brownie batter or cookie dough. The Orange Ginger tastes a lot like a spreadable Creamsicle, with a jolt of ginger at the end.

Right now, Delighted By's dessert hummus can be found in 44 Wegman's stores, though the brand's website offers a list of places where you can request the dish to be carried near you.
